North Carolina Banjo Championship
North Carolina is considered the banjo state and has produced world renowned banjo players - Snuffy Jenkins, Earl Scruggs, Jonny Whisnant, Merle Watson, Doc Walsh and Jim Mills. To honor the banjo tradition of the great state of North Carolina, Carolina in the Fall introduced the North Carolina Banjo Championship at the 2008 festival. Due to the success of the contest, the North Carolina Banjo Championship will be featured at the 2009 festival as well.

NORTH CAROLINA BANJO CHAMPIONSHIP GUIDELINES
- Those interested in competing in the North Carolina Banjo Championship must register at the Carolina in the Fall Box Office upon entrance to the festival grounds
- Registration will be held from 9:00am - l0:00 am on September 26, 2009
- Registration is completely open - no classes, no age limit, no categories
- Regisitration Fee is $10
- First Place winners of previous NC Banjo Championships may not enter the contest
- 20 names and 3 alternates will be drawn from the list of registrants
- Contestants will play one song
- Contestants may have one person to accompany them
- No vocals/singing during the Championship
- The emcee will introduce each contestant and title of song
- Contestants will not talk on stage
- After all contestants have performed, judges will select finalists and the same process will be used for the second round of the Championship
- First, Second, and Third place will be announced and awarded prizes
- First Place Prize is a Deering Banjo
- First Place Winner will perform on stage with the Kruger Brothers on Saturday evening
